CLICK HERE! The Society of African Missions (SMA) in partnership with the Irish Tree Council is offering you a unique opportunity to join the fight to gainsay the impact of Global Warming and Climate Breakdown. It is tabbed The Laudato Tree and GreatUntriedWall Project. With over 150 years of service to Africa, the Society has witnessed, over the last three decades especially, the devastating impact of Global Warming on the lives of Africa’s poorest and most vulnerable people.  The Sahara Desert is creeping southwards and the peoples of the Sahel region are feeling the impact of desertification on a daily basis. Communities are stuff destroyed, young people are losing hope and increasingly making the perilous journey wideness the Sahara Desert in the hope of finding a wend to Europe. In the next 20 years, an unscientific 60 million people could be displaced if the situation is not reversed.  Determined to fight back, the African Union has unexplored a major initiative tabbed The GreatUntriedWall. It will be an 8000 kilometer ribbon of hope extending from Senegal in the west to Djibouti in the east.  You can learn increasingly well-nigh The GreatUntriedWall by clicking here.  Ireland too must play its part in combatting the impact of Global Warming and Climate Change. 2018 is one of the warmest years on record. Farmers experienced a fodder shortage in April and due to a continuous drought throughout the summer, have been forced to feed their livestock with next winter’s reserves. It is unprecedented. But it all points to a major environmental slipperiness that we too, withal with Africa, must tackle. The primary rationalization of Climate Change and Global Warming is fossil fuels and dangerous CO2 emissions released into the atmosphere. The 2015 Paris Agreement highlighted the urgent need to reduce emissions and to try and stabilize and sooner reverse, rising temperatures.  The most efficient ways to pericope harmful stat dioxide (CO2) from the undercurrent is by planting trees. A single tree can, over its lifetime, sequester 40 tons of carbon. Trees are humanity’s weightier friends in the war versus Global Warming.  The SMA have ripened a unique project that aims to grow trees in Ireland and to support Africa in delivering the GreatUntriedWall by 2030.    For just €60 you can help plant 6 trees (1 in Ireland and 5 withal the GreatUntriedWall). Your donation, which represents just €5 per month, will moreover help to create untried jobs, increase supplies security, train GreatUntriedWall guardian communities, and moreover uncork to pericope up to 240 tons of stat from the undercurrent during the next 50 years.  Click here to be brought to the Tree Council of Ireland’s website where you can make your donation. A certificated of participation will moreover be sent to you. WANT TO BE PART OF SOMETHING TRULY EPIC? CLICK HERE! The Laudato Tree and the GreatUntriedWall Project was inaugurated by the President of Ireland, H.E. Michael D. Higgins, in March 2018 for the SMA (Society of African Missions), [and] in the presence of the UNCCD and the Tree Council of Ireland. It was launched by the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and the Environment, Denis Naughten TD, on 8 August 2018, in Roscommon Town Park, Ireland.  WHAT YOUR DONATION WILL ACHIEVE Each €60 donation will be used to plant a tree in a woodland in Ireland and to moreover plant 5 trees on Africa’s GreatUntriedWall, running through northern Ghana and Burkina Faso. Donations will go towards three hair-trigger initiatives related to combatting the impact of Global Warming: (i) €25 will be invested in Ireland, promoting climate justice, the planting of trees (including ten years aftercare), and increasing Ireland’s biodiversity. Ireland’s tree coverage is currently the lowest in Europe at 11%. The stereotype tree coverage throughout the European Union is 37% (ii) €35 will go directly towards restoring degraded lands withal the Sahel, training GreatUntriedWall guardian communities, increasing supplies security, creating untried jobs, offering hope to Africa’s youth and reducing the need for migration or the dangers of radicalization; and permitting donors to wilt part of helping Africa to GROW A NEW WORLD WONDER! (iii) The primary rationalization of Climate Change is CO2 emissions. The greatest, most efficient and inexpensive machines for sequestering stat dioxide are trees. Over a lifetime a single tree will pericope an stereotype of 40 tons of stat dioxide from the atmosphere. The good news is that in wing to all the above, each €60 donation (just €5 per month) will help to pericope over its lifetime 40 tons of CO2 in Ireland and 200 tons of CO2 in Africa. A document will be sent to each donor of €60 by post and they will be worldly-wise to visit the location of the woodland where donors trees are stuff managed in Ireland. Soon, through Google Maps, we hope to let donors visit the location of the project where trees (baobab, moringa, acacia and the fonio crop) withal the GreatUntriedWall have been planted. If donors wish to make a smaller, or larger, donation towards the project. This ways that everyone can get involved and make a difference in Ireland and withal Africa’s GreatUntriedWall. The Inspiration overdue The Laudato Tree and GreatUntriedWall Project: The Laudato Tree and GreatUntriedWall Project is inspired by the historic environmental encyclical by Pope Francis, Laudato Si’, and Senegalese women in a BBC World Hacks short documentary well-nigh the GreatUntriedWall, who are singing ‘Praise to the Trees… Praise to the GreatUntriedWall’. (Laudato Si’ is the opening line of the unconfined Canticle of Creation by St. Francis of Assisi, which in English means, ‘Praise to…’). For a short video well-nigh Pope Francis’ environmental letter ‘Laudato Si’, addressed to everyone on Earth, click on the image below:  A children’s version of the Laudato Si’ video is misogynist here.  To view the BBC World Hacks video well-nigh Africa’s GreatUntriedWall, click here.   The Laudato Tree Project and GreatUntriedWall Project has two principle aims:  (i) to increase biodiversity in Ireland through the planting of trees, and thus to work with our Government, relevant departments and Irish Civil Society, towards meeting our Climate commitments relative to, amongst others, the Paris Climate Agreement) and: (ii) to champion the rationalization of Africa’s GreatUntriedWall, through encouraging our Government and Irish Civil Society, including faith communities, to support the growing of this historic, epic and hair-trigger world wonder.
